Success and survival tips from Alaska - it's no surprise The Teddy Bears

Survival expert Bear Grylls has recently been in an incredible series of television programs that are full of survival tips survival and success favorites. He introduced the episode as follows:

.. "I survived that Grylls had just some of the world's most demanding environments, are now in Alaska, one of the last world's most beautiful nature reserves and a mistake can be deadly -. My mission to show the skills needed to survive here."

Alaskan landscape is made of endless coastlinedeep forest and vast glaciers. Seventeen of the highest mountains in the U.S. are in Alaska.

Climbers, hikers and skiers visits each year to enjoy the wilderness, but with the excitement comes danger. About 20 people die each year.

Bear was placed by helicopter to the top of a mountain in the role of a lost skier. All he had was a knife, a bottle of water skis, a flint, an intrepid camera team and a hat! He could find their way to safety.

He described whatThen it happened:

"I'm up to 9000 meters and is nothing but snow and rock for miles. My best chance of survival after head down.

"The biggest threat to skiers is avalanches. They kill about forty people each year in North America. One wrong turn and the whole mountain could collapse on you page. Do you know how to avoid them.

"The key is to avalanches, and you can read only with the stick to test theto see the snow, if it is compressed or if it is thick.

"What you do is when you press the button, it's nice and consistent, but if you press and is suddenly a bit ', is a sign that is in layers and this is dangerous stuff.

"Avalanches are often skiers and snowboarders, the twelve feet of pristine snow can fall, often triggered to enjoy here."

In the spring of 2006, a snowboarder triggered an avalanche of large 200ft Anchoragejust like the bear on a hill. His body was then again three months later. It had fallen 1600 feet.

"Where there is a risk of avalanches, always a beacon. Sending a signal that can follow a rescue service.

"I fell at least 5,000 feet at the end faces behind I leave the snow there is so much rock, you can always go skiing available. Skis will do it, I slow down. I'm better off withoutthem. "

Bear dumping the skis, but has maintained one of the poles.

"Below me a glacier literally a river of ice, like a river of this glacier flows down. If I can do it, should take me out of the mountain.

"To reach the glacier that must follow this ridge and it is not easy and reducing the temperature quickly. Temperatures can reach here in Alaska to as low as minus 60 degrees and freezing is always a risk to reach the mountains.

"Bits are watchingTheir extremities - hands, feet and face. The characters you get freeze is that your skin is red wax and then goes black. Frostbite is something really awful and painful.

"This led me to a ridge north slope. This is less sunlight, so it's still covered with snow. The weather is not so good. In the midst of the storm can be deadly.

"I must down quickly, but the slope below me is almost 300 meters. I am aTechnique called "bulldozing". "

To make the glissando, dig into the ice takes control the speed of descent. If you do not dig the dark you do enough, too soon. If you dig too deep, you can get ripped out of hand.

Bear used half a ski pole, as he had an ax, going about 50 mph clinging desperately to stick. He continued:

"I have a glacier to reach. There are over 100 000 of these in Alaska. The form belowlargest freshwater reservoir on earth, but are full of crevasses often covered with layers of snow. You need to be roped in a partner to cross safely.

"My luck is in. There is solid ground along the glacier. But at the base of the glacier there is a fall of forty feet.

"This is a tunnel of ice in the glacier could lead me out. Check the ice is solid before you in. It 's more than 200 meters of ice above you could go and could crash at any time.Only through a tunnel as a last resort. The more you go the harder it is to go back. "

I do not know what to tell the crew about this little adventure!

Bear then saw daylight ahead. It turned out the way:

"I've never making it easy. Finally, I would go to the glacier!"

He took off his boots, but kept inside the shoes. He drank some water that looked dirty, but the color was brown silt pulverized ice or rock. Bear says: "ThisThe water should be good to drink. "

He continued to move: "Now I am the mountain, I must hold to find food and shelter."

He was diving seagulls, which were protecting their eggs are protein, vitamins and minerals, but was not lucky and found only stones that looked like eggs bombed. But it was anything but discouraged

"The landscape begins to open and see the distant tree line, and I'm almost in the woods. Isee a dense forest and deep gorges, and may be at the bottom of a river des majority of villages of Alaska, along the rivers. "

He was in bear country.

The brown bear can weigh up to nine meters high, up to 1100 pounds and can rip a man. As a ranger found the remains of a corpse walkers, who was assassinated recently, there were two empty shells on the floor, but the bullets was not enough to stop the bear.

Large groups have attacked only rarely, because they make lots of noise.Hunters are most likely attacked because they are secretly round immobilized on their own.

The bears are in their most dangerous when they are caught, so do a lot of noise by yelling things. Bear began to shout, "YO YO BEAR BEAR"

But he felt uncomfortable, however, a lot of noise!

He took some berries, seeds bear dung. The good news - there are about edible berries. The bad news - there are around bears!

I was once chased by a bear in the mountains in Tehran. Iwas much faster than normal (I was eight years old at the time) and escaped. I would not take account of the race would be an adult.

Bear climbed a huge 200-foot waterfall, "Let your legs take the pressure that are much stronger than your arms .."

It 'important to take time in these situations - you can only go wrong.

He found some potatoes next Eskimo, is rich in starch and carbohydrates and should be a valuable source of food in Alaska.

He built a bed withto keep the branches on his body to the cold ground, and then found some plants of alder half dome shelter to build. For proof, you add layers of spruce from the bottom.

He lit a fire, that would scare the bears. In this part of Alaska, bears, blacks are more dangerous than the Grizzlies.

Grizzlies are territorial so when you meet them out and submitted again. However, if you encounter a black bear is probably after it. They kill fewer people than grizzly, but90% of the attacks, they stalk people.

If you are from a black bear in a corner, you have to fight for your life. Most of the local weapon, but when a gun, without grabbing a stick and hit him in the eyes of the bear.

Bear heard in the night make a difference. It could have been a moose or a bear:

"I hope whatever it is, is this" Bear "leaves you in peace!"

He woke up at 5 am exhausted clock on his second day in Alaska:

"I am a bit 'cheesed off, but that's okay. If youwas wet all night, it's okay to be a bit 'cheesed off. "

He followed a torrent of a river and then down to the sea coast, where most of the people. But he could still go 500 miles in any direction and find none:

"My best chance of rescue is one of many fishing boats that fish the area to be seen."

He saw some bald eagles, which were for salmon. The river is full of kings and pink salmon. Do not go on a fishing line, but undeterred, he made a fisherySpeer. We will always try to give an alternative venue.

Bear salmon spooked about six inches of water by shouting and beating the water with his spear. Finally, he speared a large salmon and hides it now:

"I am full of protein and you can eat the stairs as well, because they are small. I've always liked Sushi!

"I can out of the woods, but I'm still bears that come here, surrounded by fish."

He now sought shelter. Cavesready to shelters, but they are often occupied by wild animals, including bears. He found a shallow cave with high walls, where nothing could sneak up from behind him.

It was next to mussels. Shell fish should always be cooked properly before. He surrounded the shells with two layers of algae that cooking with steam in ten minutes would do. I am surprised that Bear has done
suggest not to eat the algae:

It's up to collect "When the shells. If you do not close, arealready dead, so they leave. "

He created a fire signal of white smoke, the contrast with the dark trees behind him, but he saw no boats, so he had to keep moving.

Bear suddenly discovered some wooden buildings, but were empty. Alaska has a history of ups and downs.

He saw some glaciers, often tourist destinations. Would have more chances for contact with other people but would be long.

Bear has decided that an old boat, which was in use throughoutbuildings. He used a spade as a paddle. One of the most important lessons of survival, must be open to any occasion. It 's the same thing happened.

An old boat in a sea of ice is a risk, but it was his best option. He made his way slowly along the coast. When he left, he came across a bay full of sea ice. When he entered the bay, the ice thickens and blocks of ice were all around him.

He moved with some icebergs. This can tip suddenly, as the water melts the icebelow. icy water began to penetrate into the ship. He quickly grabbed his warm clothes in his backpack, not depressed.

His boat sank, and he was a dog in cold water. The danger was that he could suck a huge gulp of water and air, but did so with water.

Once ashore, he quickly removed the rest of her clothes. They survive longer bare, as is done in wet clothes. He did push ups to get the blood moving.

The jacket was left to dry in the backThis pack would help. It remained to put a little 'and then changed, however:

"Only when I lost hope, I hear the distant sound of an engine."

He waved his arms and backpack in the air:

"I have seen, I'm on my way home! Alaska is a place where you can get really close to nature and to me its true magic."

What lessons can be learned happened?

Need to know how to avoid the disasters of life, whether it comes to avalanches, staffRelationships, finances, health or life. Learn the skills and knowledge required, or employ an expert.

Do not hang around. Moving quickly to any project, your enthusiasm for life. It keeps you warm enough to survive a descent of the mountain.

Get rid of what is slowing down, if the habits of skis' so heavy boots or bad.

Do not wait for a light to appear at the lower end, stride length of the tunnel and then light the same ***** thing! (MentionSara Henderson)

Go slow and take your time looking dangerous obstacles, where each step - signing contracts with care!

Okay sometimes feel depressed. If you spend the night wet, is to feel 'cheesed off' all right, but at least appreciate the fact that almost every night sleeping in a bed warm and dry!

Take advantage of every opportunity that comes your way.

Learn which foods and beverages are the most valuable.

If you go into the woods today, do not be surprised, teddyBear or you're going to be their picnic!
